Outdoor activities with kids, grandkids a joy

It’s hard to believe we are already over two weeks into archery season.

I’m sure you’ve heard all your life how the older you get, the more time flies. I’m getting to the age now where I’m finding it to be very truthful.

I find it harder and harder to find the time and energy to partake in many outdoor activities, I was motivated in the form of taking my grandsons hunting, but now that is even starting to go away some, as they get older and are branching out on their own.

The youngest while he does hunt, seems like he could take it or leave it and that’s fine because hunting is not for everyone. I guess that’s why hunter numbers seem to be in a continual decrease.

Then you have his older brother who lives and breathes anything outdoors. He is getting old enough to hunt with friends and relatives and doesn’t call on me quite as much.

He has recently started motor bike racing and that too will take up some time along with baseball as soon as that kicks in. In just a few months, he will even have his drivers license and will become even more independent.

I know that a lot of people evolve through these same changes. That’s life and these are all good things.

I guess the point I’m trying to make is for everyone to try and take advantage of all the time you can when it comes to taking your kids or grandkids in anything outdoors, because the older they get, those times will decrease.

However, if we are lucky, we will still get an occasional memorable adventure albeit a little less frequent.

Stay Safe and Stay Outdoors.
