AG files civil case against 3 educators
MARTINSBURG (AP) — West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey has filed a civil complaint alleging three educators verbally assaulted two autistic students at an elementary school.
The complaint says the alleged abuse by a teacher and two aides happened at Berkeley Heights Elementary in November.
The complaint accuses Christina Lester, June Yurish and Kristin Douty of violating the state’s Human Rights Act. All three have resigned from the school.
A parent one of the children says she put a recording device in the girl’s hair before sending her to school. She says an adult can be heard telling the child that she’s going to punch her in the face and another tells the girl to “shut up.”
