FEED THE CITY: Summit Church will offer a free meal from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. today at the Railyard Restaurant in downtown Elkins. Volunteers are always needed. To make any donation, come by the restaurant.

CHRISTMAS DINNER BASKET APPLICATIONS: American Legion Post 29 will be accepting applications for Christmas dinner baskets, for Randolph County residents only, on the following dates/times: Mondays through Fridays,’ through Dec. 6 between the hours of 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Proof of your physical residency, ID and all forms of income you receive are required. Applications must be filled out in the office at 326 Railroad Ave. in Elkins and cannot leave the building. Applications do not guarantee you will be chosen to receive a dinner. Baskets will be given out Dec. 14. Letters to recipients will be mailed out beginning Dec. 9. For more information, call 304- 636-3930.

CITY HALL CLOSED: Elkins City Hall will be closed Thursday and Friday in observance of Thanksgiving. Garbage normally picked up Thursday will be picked up starting at 6 a.m. Wednesday. Garbage picked up Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday will be on regular schedule.

FREE THANKSGIVING DINNER: Free Thanksgiving dinner will be served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday at the Senior Center in Parsons. The event is sponsored by local churches and volunteers. For more information or to place an order for delivery or pickup, call Carroll Precht at 304-478-4018.

THANKSGIVING LUNCH: The Randolph Coalition of Christian Churches will host a Thanksgiving lunch from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thanksgiving Day at the Oddfellows Lodge on the Beverly Five-lane. Anyone in the community who has a desire to be a part of the fellowship is invited to the luncheon.

A VICTORIAN CHRISTMAS: The Scott-Kump Home will host A Victorian Christmas from 6 – 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and Dec. 6-7. Activities will include tours, hors d’oeuvres, trees displayed throughout the home and wine and cheese. Tickets will be available at the door or in advance by calling 304-940-9932. Proceeds will benefit Mountain Hospice, Randolph County Humane Society, Tygart Valley Homestead Association and Randolph County United Way.

ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION: The Animal Friends of Barbour County “Attic” in the Tygart River General Store at 612 Crim Ave. in Belington will celebrate its first anniversary Saturday. The Attic is open from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

CHRISTMAS CRAFT SHOW: The Episcopal Church in Buckhannon will host its annual Christmas craft show from 9 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Saturday. Cuddle Critters, make and stuff animals and outfits, will be available. There also will be Christmas candy and cookies, salt-rising bread, hot dogs and lots of homemade crafts for sale.

PRAYER SERVICE: Holy Rosary Catholic Church will host an Advent Ecumenical Prayer Service for the Buckhannon community at 7 p.m. Sunday. The invitation to come is prayerfully extended to all. The Advent Prayer Service will include hymns appropriate for the Advent season, scripture readings, prayers focusing on the coming of the Savior, and meditative time for reflection. Various churches in the community will be participating. Fellowship in Marist Hall will follow. Holy Rosary Church is located on Main Street, just before St. Joseph Hospital.

EHS CLASS OF 1957: Elkins High School class of 1957 will host a covered-dish, Christmas get together Dec. 2 at the IOOF Hall on the Beverly Five lane. Social Hour will begin at 6 p.m. with dinner at 6 p.m.

HOMESTEAD CERAMICS CLASS: Registrations are being accepted for a ceramics class scheduled to start on Dec. 3 from 6 – 7:30 p.m. at the Homestead Community and Event Center in Dailey. The class is being offered for ages 16 and older with registration fee covering all materials. For more information or to register, contact instructor Bonnie Serrett at 304-335-2305. The class is sponsored by the Tygart Valley Homestead Association with proceeds benefiting the community and event center.

BOOK CLUB: The UCPL book club will meet at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 5 in the Library at Tennerton. The selection is “A Walk in the Woods: Rediscovering America on the Appalachian Trail” by Bill Bryson and is available on loan from the Library Commission limiting the cost of purchasing new books. CHRISTMAS BAZAAR: Randolph County Senior Center will host a Christmas bazaar from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. Dec. 5 and 6. Crafts, baked goods, candy and more may be purchased.

CITRUS FRUIT SALE: Elkins Area Bands’ citrus fruit pick up will be from 9 a.m. – 6:30 p.m. Dec. 6 at EHS band room.

BAKE AND CRAFT SALE: Orlena United Methodist Church in Gilman will host a bake sale and craft sale from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. Dec. 6 and from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. Dec. 7. Soup, hot dogs ad sandwiches may be purchased for lunch.

HOLIDAY FUNDRAISER: Friends of Blackwater will host a square dance and soup dinner beginning at 5 p.m. Dec. 6 at the Thomas Education Center. There also will be music, silent auction and more. BREAKFAST WITH SANTA: The 2020 EHS senior class and the GFWC Junior Woman’s Club of Elkins will host Breakfast with Santa from 8 – 10:30 a.m. Dec. 7 at the Beverly Fire Hall. Tickets may be purchased by calling Angie Goff at 304-636-5626 or from any EHS senior. Tickets are also available at the Breakfast with Santa 2019 Facebook page and at the door. Menu consists of pancakes and drinks. Pictures may be taken with Santa. Proceeds benefit the 2020 EHS Project Safe Graduation party.

CHRISTMAS BAZAAR/LUNCHEON: Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 302 First St. in Elkins will host a Christmas bazaar and luncheon from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. Dec. 7. The bazaar will feature homemade crafts, country store and baked goods. Four flavors of soup and hot dogs will be available for eat in or take out after 11 a.m.

CHRISTMAS LUNCHEON AND BAZAAR: The annual Christmas bazaar and luncheon will be from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Dec. 7 at the Beverly Presbyterian Church. The lunch includes homemade soup, sandwich, salad, dessert and drink. Shoppers will find trays of homemade cookies, baked goodies and a white elephant sale. This event is part of the annual Old Fashioned Beverly Christmas.

BUCKWHEAT AND SAUSAGE BREAKFAST: The Men of the Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church will host a buckwheat and sausage breakfast from 7 – 11 a.m. Dec. 7 in the Fellowship Hall of the church. The menu will consist of buckwheat cakes, pancakes, sausage, eggs and drinks.

A MERRY LITTLE CHRISTMAS PARTY: American Legion’s Ladies Auxiliary will host a Christmas party for children 11 and younger from 1 – 5 p.m. Dec. 8 in the upstairs hall of the Post Home. There will be gifts, craft cards, food and drink and a visit from Santa Claus.
