TOYS FOR TOTS DISTRIBUTION: by Elkins Marine Corps League Detachment 956 for families pre-registered to receive toys will Dec. 18-19 in the building formerly occupied by the Suddenlink office on the upper right side of the Tygart Valley Mall in Elkins. Distribution times and dates will be based on the first letter of the family’s last name. HOMESTEAD HOLIDAY BAZAAR: Hosted by the Homestead Community and Event Center in Dailey today from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Local crafters, vendors, home-made goods, local honey and more. These are the same folks that contribute to community groups, so please come and support them. Santa and Mrs. Claus will be there for the kids from 10am to noon. COOKIES AND MORE: Cookies and More will be from 8:30 – 11:30 a.m. today in the Godwin Fellowship Hall at First United Methodist Church, 52 S. Florida St. in Buckhannon. Homemade cookies and candy will be sold plus some crafts and gift items.

CHRISTMAS CRAFT SHOW: New Life Church in Beverly will host its annual Christmas craft show from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. today Santa will be available from noon – 2 p.m. for free pictures for the family, so bring your cameras. CHRISTMAS BAKE SALE: St. Brendan Holy Rosary Guild will host a Christmas bake sale from 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. today on the ground floor of the church.

CHRISTMAS ACTIVITIES: Heaston United Methodist Church of Hodgesville will host a children’s Christmas party from 1 – 4 p.m. with Santa arriving at 3 p.m. today; a covered-dish Christmas dinner at 5 p.m. Sunday; and a traditional candlelight service at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 23.

HOLIDAY OPEN HOUSE: Emma Scott Garden Club and Kump Education Center will host a 1930s Style Holiday Open House from 2 – 5 p.m. today and Sunday at 401 S. Randolph Ave. across from the Elkins Kroger. Children’s activities will be available thanks to Interact Children’s Museum.

CLOTHING PANTRY: Harman Presbyterian Church will host a clothing pantry from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. Dec. 21 in the church basement. Anyone in need of clothing is welcome and can take what they need.

FREE CONCERT: Free Community Christmas Concert will begin at 3 p.m. Sunday at The Arts Center in Elkins.

GOD’S CLOSET: Elkins Seventh-day Adventist Church will host its 2019 Christmas free “shop” day at God’s Closet from 2 – 4 p.m. Sunday in the gymnasium of Highland Adventist School at 777 Kennedy St., Elkins (just down the road from North School.) Parking will be at North School and shoppers will be shuttled to the HAS gym by bus. “Shoppers” will be asked to donate $1 toward program expenses. REPRESENTATIVE FROM THE ATTORNEY GENERAL’S OFFICE: A consumer representative from Attorney General Patrick Morrisey’s Office will conduct public events throughout the north central counties. The office representative will educate consumers on the latest scams in their area, provide tips on how to guard their personal information and answer questions about consumer protection settlements. Scheduled events are: 11 a.m. – noon Monday, Philippi Public Library, 91 S. Main St., Philippi; and 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Lewis County Senior Center, 171 W. Second St., Weston. CITY HALL CLOSED: Buckhannon City Hall will be closed to the public Monday for computer server upgrades. City Hall will re-open at 8:30 a.m. Dec. 17. For your convenience, the payment dropbox is located at the parking lot exit on the Main Street side.

FARM BUREAU CHRISTMAS DINNER: Randolph County Farm Bureau will host its Christmas dinner meeting at 6 p.m. Dec. 17 in the Assembly Hall at Camp Pioneer.
