Purple Majesties host January luncheon

ELKINS -- Elkins Purple Majesties Red Hats hosted its January luncheon Jan. 14 at Graceland Restaurant. Queen Mother BJ McKenzie presided over the meeting. Duchesses for the event included Charlotte Thomas, Gerri Rosencrance and Patsy Roberts.

After a short business meeting Queen BJ asked the blessing, and members enjoyed yankee pot roast in a beautifully decorated "snowman" themed room.

Thanks to all who visited the Red Hat Store. Hopefully all will enjoy their bargain purchases. We will not open the store at the next meeting but will announce when items will be for sale again. If members would like to donate any surplus red hat items, we will be happy to include them in future sales.

December birthdays were announced and members serenaded birthday Majesty Texie Mallow on their kazoos. The traditional warning was led by Queen Mother McKenzie.

The fun continued with some brain-teasing games and two lucky winners were awarded prizes for their "winning" ways. Prize tickets were announced and lucky winners received some lovely door prizes.

The February Purple Majesties meeting will be Feb. 11 at Mama Mia's Italian Restaurant. The menu will include three entrees so please make your selection when you call the make your reservation Entrees include spaghetti and meatballs, chicken parmesan with a side of spaghetti or baked ziti. Rolls, salad, beverages and dessert will also be served. Duchesses for the February luncheon are Susan Channell and Candy Crawford.
