State cross country meet set for Saturday

ONA — The expectations will be high for the Elkins boys and girls cross country teams at Saturday’s state meet at Cabell Midland High School. Both squads have Big 10 Conference and regional titles to their credit this season and state titles would add to the magical year. The Tiger boys looks for their third straight state title — winning the Class AA crown in 2024 and the Class AAA trophy last year. ELKINS — Davis & Elkins and the University of Charleston are the top seeds in the Mountain East Conference soccer tourney set to begin on Sunday. The Senators (11-1-2) enter the tourney as the North Division champions and ranked 10th nationally, while UC (14-2-0) captured the South Division and is fourth in the nation.
