Elkins City Hall News
We are starting, in part, anew this week with the parting of two longtime council members, Gene Ochsendorf and Bob Woolwine; the induction of two new members, Judy Guye and Mike Hinchman; as well as the reorganization of council committee membership. To kick things off, the new Finance chair, Charlie Friddle, will hold a meeting on Monday at 10 a.m. On the agenda is a review of general liability insurance bids received by the City and consideration of a waiver of B&O taxes for contractors paid directly by the City. At 7 p.m. on Wednesday you can find the Elkins Tree Board at the Darden House discussing tree education, planting, celebrations and the like. The Elkins Planning Commission meets on Thursday at 1 p.m. to continue fine tuning the proposed zoning ordinance. Later that same day at 5:30 p.m. the Revenue Committee, headed by newly assigned chair Rob Chenoweth, will meet and continue discussions on annexation. Immediately following at 7 p.m. is the regular council meeting including our newest members. As the mayor is known to say, “Our door is always open” and you have an standing invitation.
