ELKINS — Next week a majority of council members’ time will be spent on city people and places, beginning with the Personnel Committee meeting on Monday at 1 p.m. Participants will be updating the Motor Vehicle Policy, considering the reappointment of the Treasurer, and reviewing a draft of the job description for a new Information Coordinator position.
At Wednesday’s Municipal Properties Committee meeting, items up for discussion will include the disposition of several parcels of property the city has recently taken ownership of in their efforts to address dilapidated housing and blighted areas. This committee is scheduled to meet at 9 a.m. at City Hall.
Finally on Thursday at 7 p.m. full council will convene to consider a number of items, including the appointment of a new permanent chief of police. All council and committee agendas can be found in the lobby of City Hall as well as the kiosk in front of the building. Council agendas are also posted on the City’s website, www.cityofelkinswv.com.
You can also catch up on the business of the Elkins Historic Landmarks Commission at their 4 p.m. meeting Tuesday at the Darden House, and the Elkins Parks and Recreation Commission, who will be meeting at the Phil Gainer Community Center on Wednesday at 5 p.m.
