Police believe Randolph man killed girlfriend, then himself

ELKINS — The West Virginia State Police released the identities of two individuals found dead Monday morning at Novus Glass near Elkins.

Ricky Cooper, 36, of Randolph County, is believed to have fatally shot Savanah Bays, 23, of Taylor County, before taking his own life at the business, which is located along the Beverly Five-lane between Elkins and Beverly, according to Sgt. M.D. Anderson of the WVSP.

Anderson added the weapon used in the apparent murder-suicide was a handgun.

A press release from the WVSP Monday indicated the business owner arrived for work and discovered Cooper and Bays, who were both deceased.

According to information from the WVSP, the Elkins detachment of the WVSP received a call Monday morning in reference to two bodies being discovered at Novus Glass. Upon arrival, law enforcement officers investigated the scene and ruled that “the victim and suspect” had been involved in a domestic violence altercation.

Anderson noted the investigation is ongoing.
