BUCKHANNON -- Downtown Buckhannon was crowded over the weekend with folks enjoying the final two days of the 77th annual West Virginia Strawberry Festival.
Festival goers enjoyed specialty strawberry treats, carnival rides, craft shows, live music, an antique tractor show, entertainment and Saturday's highlight, the Grand Feature Parade.
Though the parade didn't start until the afternoon, lawn chairs were lined on the sidewalks bright and early Saturday morning as parade onlookers prepared to have the best seat.
The Grand Feature Parade spotlighted several high school marching bands, dance teams, a variety of organizations and royal courts from different state festivals.
Local and state officials, including Buckhannon Mayor David McCauley, Delegate Bill Hamilton (R-Upshur, 45th District), U.S. Senator Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., and state Attorney General Patrick Morrisey, waved to onlookers as they strolled down Strawberry Lane.
Weijia Jiang, a Buckhannon native and currently a correspondent for CBS News, was the parade marshal for Saturday's parade.
Following the Grand Feature Parade, Strawberry Idol continued outside of the Upshur County Courthouse, while Irish Road Bowling took place on Turkey Run Road.
The downtown streets were blocked off as Party Gras resumed for its second night. The streets were filled with visitors and residents enjoying the live music and entertainment, which lasted until 11 p.m.
On the final day of the festival, the Brassmaster Regional Championship Pistol Shoot took place early Sunday morning.
Following the pistol shoot, participants of the Jack Barker Canoe Race arrived at Wood Street Park.
Also featured on Sunday was the miniature horse show at Bennett's Farm and the golf tournament at the Buckhannon Country Club.
Irish Road Bowling continued, followed by a gospel sing at West Virginia Wesleyan College's Wesley Chapel.
Carnival rides and fair food carried on until 6 p.m., when the annual festival came to a close after nine days of family activities.
