FRANKLIN -- A Virginia man lost his life after a single-vehicle accident on Allegheny Mountain in Pendleton County.
Omar Hadi Fenjan Al Khuzaie, of Harrisonburg, Virginia, was killed when he crashed the tractor trailer he was operating.
"On July 28, the Franklin detachment of the West Virginia State Police responded to a single vehicle crash, on U.S. 33, Allegheny Mountain, for a tractor trailer crash," West Virginia State Police Sgt. A.D. Teter said in a press release. "A tractor trailer was traveling east on U.S. 33, going down a steep grade, in a sharp lefthand curve, when the driver lost control, causing the vehicle to exit the roadway edge, overturning and crashing down over a steep mountain."
The wreckage from the vehicle, which was carrying eggs, covered a "vast area" and the vehicle was completely demolished in the crash, police said.
Al Khuzaie, the only occupant of the vehicle, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The vehicle was owned by Interchange Group, LLC, located in Harrisonburg, Virginia.
Senior Trooper D.E. Bailey, of the West Virginia State Police, served as the investigating officer of the incident.
