By Brad Johnson 2 min read

ELKINS -- An Elkins man is facing a drug charge after a routine traffic stop.

Brandon Scott Johnson, 37, is charged with possession with intent to deliver. Bond was set at $25,000 cash by Magistrate Rob Elbon.

According to the criminal complaint filed by Senior Patrolman D.T. Sayre, at about 10 p.m. Monday he and Senior Patrolman C.G. Boatwright observed a tan Ford Taurus roll through a stop sign at the intersection of Gorman Avenue and Worth Avenue. The officers pulled the vehicle over in a parking lot on Harrison Avenue.

While speaking with Johnson, the driver, Sayre noticed a "napkin with a clear glass smoking device laying on the center console," the complaint states. Officers also found a zipped bag, which Johnson allegedly said contained "a roach, actually man, there's about two ounces of weed in there, I'll open it for you."

Inside the bag, officers found several baggies containing what was believed to be marijuana, along with a digital scale, according to the complaint.

While being processed, Johnson allegedly said, "I just sell a little bit to make some money here and there" and stated he only "smokes two bowls of weed a day," court documents state.

If convicted of the charge, Johnson could be sentenced to from one to 15 years in prison, and fined up to $25,000
