Depot director speaks to Rotary

ELKINS — Anne Beardslee, executive director of the Elkins Depot Welcome Center, made a presentation to the Elkins Rotary Club Monday.

Beardslee spoke about several upcoming events, including the 11th annual Ramps and Rail Festival, set for April 27. The festival continues to grow each year and she said Depot officials hope everyone will come out this year.

Attendees can try out different ramp-themed foods and listen to live music, enjoy crafts and vote for their favorite vendors.

“We were kind of relaxed today when we saw the weather,” Beardslee said. “We are not going to have rain for the festival. You keep your fingers crossed all year that everything will go well.”

The event has 52 vendors signed up this year, with 23 offering food and 29 craft vendors.

“We have a large group of vendors coming in,” Beardslee said. “We will have music this year from the Phrawg Giggers and the Spice family is also going to perform for us.”

The festivities will start at 10 a.m. and continue until 5 p.m. The Durbin & Greenbrier Valley Railroad will offer train rides to those who want to take one of the first rides of the year.

There also will be a silent auction. The silent auction will benefit the renewal of the Christmas lights used during the holiday season.
