PHILIPPI -- Two people died in a five-vehicle wreck that shut down Route 250 in Barbour County for more than eight hours Thursday.
According to a West Virginia State Police press release, three other people were flown to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown as a result of the accident. No names were released
The accident took place near Corley Church on Route 250 in Barbour County at 8:52 a.m., the release stated.
Route 250 northbound remained closed to traffic until 5:18 p.m. due to debris from the accident being in the roadway, according to the Philippi Police Department.
The cause of the accident is being investigated by the State Police. Cpl. J.A. Rich of the Philippi detachment is the investigating officer.
