HODGESVILLE -- One woman was lifeflighted after a rock from a dump truck went through a windshield and struck her in the head, causing her to wreck Wednesday on Route 20 North of Hodgesville.
Carlen Sue Huffman, 66, of Cairo, was traveling south in a brown 2007 Dodge Caravan on Route 20 North about 8:15 a.m. when a rock came through the windshield, causing her to lose control and run into the guardrail on the right side of the road, according to Cpl. Theron Caynor with the Upshur County Sheriff's Department.
The van passed a dump track traveling north and a large rock was lost off the truck, according to the wreck report in the Upshur County Sheriff's Department.
The wreck and the identify of the truck which may have lost the rock remains under investigation.
"We had some witnesses who stopped to render aid and contacted Comm Center and got help there for her," he said.
The Buckhannon Fire Department, Warren District Volunteer Fire Department and Upshur County EMS responded.
Huffman was flown by Healthnet to Ruby Memorial Hospital. Huffman's condition could not be confirmed Thursday afternoon.
