Woman dies in possible drowning

BOWDEN — The Randolph County Sheriff’s Department was called to the scene of a possible drowning at the Shaver’s Fork Campground on Wednesday morning.

The body of a woman was pulled from the Shaver’s Fork River by divers from the Elkins Fire Department. Members of the Randolph County Sheriff’s Department discovered the woman’s hat and cane on a rock near a pool of water, officials said..

“We are trying to rule out all avenues of this tragedy that appears to have definitely been a drowning,” Randolph County Sheriff Rob Elbon told The Inter-Mountain Wednesday.

“We are looking at some things to make sure we get everything right in our investigation,” Elbon said.

The incident is under investigation and the Randolph County Sheriff’s Department will release more information once it becomes available.
