PARSONS -- The Tucker County Fair Board is preparing to hold their first Kayaking Poker Run Sunday.

“We are one month away from the Tucker County Fair at Camp Kidd in Parsons,” Tucker County Fair board member Daniele Wilfong stated. “This weekend will be the final fundraiser for the fair.”

The Kayak Poker Run will be a four- to five-hour paddle ride, starting at St. George Park and ending in Hannahsville at Falls Campground.

The event will be presented as a normal poker run, except with kayaks, with different stopping locations to pick cards until the participants reach their destination.

After the ride, a cookout meal will be provided to riders at the end of the ride, with extra meals being provided to riders guests, with a card holding participant of the event for $5.

The event will feature live music, door prices and prizes for best poker hand.

Of course, because of state law and public safety, all kaykers must have a life preserver with them on their ride.

Registration for the event will begin at 9 a.m., with the ride starting at 10 a.m.

Although early registration is over, individuals can participate in the event on Sunday for $30.

Extra shirts will also be available to individuals on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Rentals will also be available through Blackwater Outdoor Adventures at 304-478-5277 and Patriots4 at 304-478-5277.

The Tucker County Fair Board Association created the unique event to help raise funds for their annual Tucker County Fair, coming up in August.

“In case of rain, event will be moved to July 29,” Wilfong stated.

Those who are interested are instructed to contact any fairboard member or Wilfong at 304-704-5277.
