Bucs cruise to home win over Liberty

TENNERTON – Four players reached double figures as Buckhannon-Upshur rolled to a 79-43 Big 10 Conference victory over Liberty on Tuesday night.

Ryan Hurst led the Bucs (5-4, 5-1 Big 10) with 14 points, followed by Mason Hyre and Dawson Lilly with 13 each and Josh Loudin with 12.

B-U held a 51-18 rebounding advantage and received 37 points from the reserves, led by Hyre and Loudin’s efforts.

Ryan Strader had 12 rebounds, Will McCauley 11 caroms and Jacob Loudin dished out seven assists and collected three steals.

Hayden Dodd and Cole Holden had 12 points apiece for the Mountaineers (2-7, 0-7 Big 10).

The Bucs took control early, outscoring Liberty 22-13 in the opening quarter and 11-9 in the second to build a 33-22 cushion at the intermission.

They blew the game open with a 26-12 scoring edge in the third frame.

B-U will return to action next Tuesday at East Fairmont for a 7:30 p.m. tilt.
