MILL CREEK -- The Tygarts Valley High School Lady Bulldogs defeated in-county rivals the Elkins High School Lady Tigers, 45-37, Monday evening in Mill Creek.
TVHS coach Nancy Lewis said her team played well and earned a "good win."
"We played very well defensively tonight," she said. "Our inside players did well on the boards."
The Lady Bulldogs held EHS scoreless in the first quarter, taking the opening stanza 8-0. TVHS took the second quarter 10-7, the third ended with each team netting 11 points. The Lady Tigers won the final quarter 19-16.
Lewis said her team had several turnovers in the final quarter, but overall, she said, "We played a very nice game tonight."
The Lady Bulldogs were led in scoring by senior Abby Harris netting 16 points, while freshmen Abby Cabaniss and Landrie Lanham each added 10 points.
The Lady Tigers were led by senior Susan Riggleman with 10 points. Haley Smith, a senior, added 8 points and Sarah Riggleman, a senior, chipped in 7 points.
The Lady Bulldogs will travel to Pendleton County to take on the Lady Vikings at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
