KEYSER -- Double-A Petersburg improved to 10-7 on the season Tuesday night with a 53-48 win over Potomac Valley Conference rival Keyser High School.
Keyser had two players reach 20 points, but it wasn't enough to overcome a 10-point halftime deficit of 29-19. The Lady Vikings extended their lead out to 39-26 before the fourth frame ensued.
Keyser won the fourth quarter, 22-14, but the hosting Golden Tornado squad knocked on the door too late to overcome the final verdict in Mineral County.
Kearstin Lucas led all scorers with 24 points for Keyser while shooting 4 of 5 at the line. Lexi Turner notched a perfect 8 for 8 at the charity stripe toward her total of 20 points.
Petersburg, which never trailed after halftime, had three players reach double-digit scoring.
Jenna Burgess paced the Vikes with 16 points, while Mackenzie Kitzmiller hit for 15 markers, including a 5 of 7 effort from the free-throw line.
Petersburg senior Casey Watts netted a 6 of 9 performance at the foul line to help her garner 12 points.
Kayla Lantz added eight points for PHS.
The Lady Vikings will look for their fourth straight victory on Friday, if weather permits, playing host to Berkeley Springs.
Petersburg handed the PVC rival Lady Indians a 60-33 loss in Morgan County earlier in the month.
