BUCKHANNON-- The Elkins boys and girls tennis teams opened the season with wins over Buckhannon-Upshur Tuesday at West Virginia Wesleyan College.
The Tigers claimed a 5-2 win, while the EHS girls took a 4-3 verdict.
Earning wins for the EHS boys were Noah Carr at No. 1 singles, Daniel Corley at No. 2 singles and Tyler Ludwig at No. 4 singles.
In No. 1 doubles, Carr and Corley defeated B-U's Cade Garrett-Isaac Stankus (8-4) and Tyler Ludwig and Kaleb Schoonover claimed an 8-0 win at No. 3 doubles.
Earning wins for the Bucs were Caden Andrick at No. 3 singles and the No. 2 doubles team of Andrick and Grant Chapman.
Earning singles wins for Lady Tigers were Alli Dolly at No. 1, Satsuki Toni at No. 3 and Sara Rager No. 4.
Dolly and Satsuki were also winners at No. 1 doubles.
For the Lady Bucs, Johnna Smith won at No. 2 singles and the doubles teams of Smith and Caitlyn Wendling (No. 2) and Kayla Hurst and Iris Tenney (No. 3) recorded victories.
