HINTON -- Summers County used a game-ending 9-1 run to pull away from Pocahontas County, 46-35, in a Class A, Region III co-final on Thursday night.
The Lady Warriors trailed by just three, at 37-34, with less than 2 minutes left before the Lady Bobcats took control with their run.
The game was tied at 8-8 after one quarter.
Summers County then went on a 10-0 run to end the first half and lead 24-16 at the intermission.
Brianna Hefner, the lone senior for Pocahontas County, finished with 10 points and 12 rebounds, while Kira Bircher added eight points.
Sophomore point guard Taylor Isaac fired in 23 points for the Lady Bobcats, while Gavin Pivont chipped in nine points.
The Lady Warriors, who ended the season 18-5, held a 38-30 rebounding edge.
Summers County (16-9) is the seventh seed in the state tournament and will battle No. 2 Parkersburg Catholic at 1 p.m. Wednesday in quarterfinal play at the Charleston Civic Center.
Trinity 66, Moorefield 44
MORGANTOWN -- Reagan Sharp netted 17 points as Trinity advanced to the Class A state tourney with a 66-44 win over Moorefield Thursday night in a co-Region II final.
The Lady Yellow Jackets were unable to get on track after falling behind 16-6 after one quarter and 33-17 at the intermission. They trailed 51-27 entering the final canto.
Lexi Gilhuys scored 15 points and dished out four assists and Lindsey Rinker finished with 10 points for Moorefield, which ended the season 13-13.
Gracie O'Neill added a team-high seven rebounds in the setback.
Leighton Croft chipped in 15 points and Kaylie Laskody tallied 14 points for the Lady Warriors, who are the sixth seed in the tournament and will face Magnolia in quarterfinal action at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Charleston Civic Center.
