Concord cruises past D&E

ELKINS -- Concord University erupted for 20 hits en route to a 19-5 win over Davis & Elkins College Wednesday in non-conference action at Harpertown Field.
The Mountain Lions, who improved to 16-7 with the win, held a slim 2-0 lead entering the fifth inning.
But a three-run double by Anthony Stehlin in the fifth frame pushed the Concord lead out to 5-0.
Concord tacked on a single run in the sixth on a run-producing single by Brett Simmons before putting the contest away with a seven-run outburst in the seventh inning to make it 13-0.
Concord's offense continued to produce in the ninth inning as the Mountain Lions put up six more runs.
Jordan Clark had a three-run blast to lead the uprising.
The Senators scored all of their runs in the bottom of the inning as Chase DeGrood and Ryan Savitt had run-producing singles and Troy McMillion laced a two-run single.
The final cross crossed on a balk.
Ryan Fralin led Concord at the dish with four hits. Clark and Chance Davis followed with three hits apiece, while Stehlin knocked in five runs.
Bryson Booher notched the win for the Mountain Lions in six innings of work.
He allowed just two hits and struck out five.
Spencer Hoyt, Jonathon Montes and Gabe Garcia finished in relief.
Justin Worley, one of nine pitchers used by D&E, suffered the loss for in 4 1/3 innings of action. He scattered five hits, struck out three and walked six batters.
The Senators (2-24) will entertain Ohio Valley for a four-game series this weekend.
Saturday and Sunday's doubleheaders will both get underway at noon.
