CHARLESTON -- Elkins High School's Daniel Romans and Austin Storey will compete on the prep gridiron one final time when they play in the annual North-South All-Star Football Classic on Saturday.
The contest is scheduled for a noon kickoff at South Charleston High School's Black Eagle Stadium.
Romans, who was a Class AA all-state first-team selection and Big 10 Defensive Player of the Year this past season, rushed for over 1,000 yards the past two seasons for the Tigers.
On the defensive side of the ball, Romans had 186 tackles the past two seasons from his linebacker position. He had 31 tackles for a loss during that span.
"Daniel's awards this past season were well deserved," said Elkins coach Evan Hott. "He's always had a nose for the ball. I'm excited to watch him play on Saturday."
Storey, meanwhile, ran for 746 yards this past season and was a first team All-Big 10 Conference selection for his play as a defensive back for Elkins. He will play football at Glenville State College next season.
"Austin is a very special young man," Hott said. "He has worked extremely hard achieve what he has accomplished. He has been such a reliable defensive back the last two years. I would put him against a team's best receiver and never worry."
Three other area gridders will suit up along side the Elkins duo as Tucker County's Cole Rapp, Pendleton County's Kole Puffenberger and Petersburg's Jacob Martin will also play for the North.
