D&E to host first home triathlon meet
ELKINS — David & Elkins College head triathlon coach Chris Hammer has announced the schedule for the upcoming 2019 season, which includes the first home event in program history.
Hammer, entering his second season as well as the second season of the program, has a schedule consisting of four regular season events, the East Regional Qualifier and the National Championships. The women’s triathlon program will look to improve upon their inaugural season, which featured a fourth-place finish among Division II programs at the national championships in Arizona.

The Senators will host the inaugural Senator Splash-n-Dash on Sept. 21 during homecoming weekend, marking the first home contest in program history. Eastern Mennonite University will come to Elkins and the event being open to the public.
After closing out regular season competition on October 6 at the Tri at the Trump in Mooresville, NC, the Senators will head to the East Regional Qualifier in Huddleston, Virginia on Oct. 19, in preparation for the National Championships in Tempe, Ariz. on Nov. 16. Last year, Sophie Schoppl (7th), Eleonora Pierre (11th), and Dru Mills (23rd), competed at the national championships.
