ELKINS --Lewis County captured first place in a golf match with Elkins and Tygarts Valley Monday evening at the Elks Country Club Golf Course.
The Minutemen claimed top honors with a score of 166. The Bulldogs followed in second place with a 211, while Tigers rounded out the scoring with a 218. Kyle Bozic led the way for Lewis County by hitting a low-medalist score of 39.
Mackenzie Staten led the way for Tygarts Valley with a 49. Teammate Cole Arbogast followed with a 51 and Liam Depp hit a 53. Andrew Holbrook (58) and Morgan Arbogast (65) rounded out the field for the Bulldogs.
Ivan Looney-Sanders paced Elkins with a 49. Gabby Bedford followed with a 55, while Tanner Miller and Harmon Young both scored 57. Chase Bedford chipped in with a 60 for the Tigers.
"Our scores weren't that great today and definitely not as consistent as they normally are," said Elkins coach Dave Baird. "We have one last home match of the season tomorrow. Hopefully, we can come out and play much better with the Big 10 Championships and Regionals coming up the next couple weeks."
Elkins will entertain Fairmont Senior and North Marion today at 4 p.m. The Tigers will then play in the Big 10 Championships next Monday at Stonewall Resort.
Tygarts Valley, meanwhile, will play host to Webster County and Pendleton County today at the Raven Golf Course in Snowshoe.
