DMC to host health event just for men
ELKINS — Davis Medical Center will host a Men’s Health event June 14 at the Phil Gainer Community Center in Elkins. This free event will provide valuable health screenings and a better understanding of key issues specific to men’s health.
“June is Men’s Health Month and a perfect opportunity for Davis Medical Center to heighten the awareness of preventable health problems among men,” said Diana Patella, R.N., director of Population Health for Davis Health System.
The event begins at 5 p.m. with free health screenings, which include: body mass index; PSA — prostate specific antigen; blood pressure; blood glucose; cholesterol; cardiac risk; incentive spirometry; sleep apnea and CPAP; and hearing.
All results will be provided immediately except for the PSA. Since a blood draw is required for this screening, attendees will receive their results in the mail 7-10 days post event. You do not need to fast for the blood draw.
At 6 p.m., participants will have dinner and hear from health experts on a number of health risks and prevention tips geared specifically to men. There will be several speakers throughout the evening.
The entire event is free and open to the public, however spaces are limited and RSVP is required by calling 304-637-3200. Door prizes include a YETI cooler and muzzle loader and will be drawn at the conclusion of the event. You must be present to win.
