The Chamber’s Award for Citizen of the Year went to Phyllis Baxter, who is retiring after serving as executive director of the Appalachian Forest National Heritage Area for more than 20 years. Baxter was unable to attend, so her award was accepted by Logan Smith of the Appalachian Forest National Heritage Area. ELKINS -- A total of nine awards were presented during the Elkins-Randolph County Chamber's annual Dinner & Awards event Wednesday in the Senate Commons of the Myles Center for the Arts on the campus of Davis & Elkins College.
The Chamber's Non-Profit of the Year Award went to Woodlands Development & Lending, which in addition to many other projects recently opened the historic, newly renovated Tygart Hotel in Elkins.
The award was presented by Adam Williams from the Durbin & Greenbrier Valley Railroad.
The Chamber's Community Art Award went to Augusta Heritage Center, which recently established itself as a separate 501c3 and moved to a new home in the former Wilt Building, at the corner of Davis and Third Street in Elkins.
The award was presented by Dani Cade, executive director of The Arts Center.
The Chamber's Young Leader of the Year Award was garnered by Jordan Godwin, the CEO at Valley Health Care.
The award was presented by Jim Jackson of Elkins Auto.
The Chamber's Award for Business Persons of the Year went to Andi Kniffen and Desire Watson of Beanders, the first mother/daughter winners of the award.
The award was presented by Rachel Hayes of Davis Trust Company.
The Chamber's Business of the Year Award was presented to Gino's Pizza and Spaghetti House, which celebrated its 50th year in business in Elkins in 2023.
The award was presented to owners Frank and Laura Santmyer by The Inter-Mountain's executive editor, Brad
Johnson.
The Chamber's New Business of the Year Award went to Ging Murdock, the owner of Ging Rolls and Pancit, a commercial kitchen featuring Philippine food, including take-out and catering.
The award was presented by Randolph County Development Authority Deputy Director Kris Wilmoth.
