Time of Wonder

Seasonal Scenes and Scenarios Around Elkins

ELKINS — As people are passing through our area these days, they are viewing many landscape changes due to the Christmas celebration and the New Year. We are glad they have come to be part of something so special.

The many business owners, who have taken much time and effort to provide seasonal themes and spectacular decorations to their windows, accent the ideas of giving and receiving. In life, we do much of this and it propels us forward. We hope toward better times.

But, alas, it is uplifting to view the creative ways our town has developed to accent the holiday atmosphere and remind people of the extraordinary events taking place in the name of Christmas and the New Year.

And, just as the scenery has changed, we wonder, “How much viewing it has changed us?” “Are we more joyful?” “Hopeful?” “Friendly?” “Or, for that matter, energized?” “Are we taking-on a new look, as well?”

It is a time to adopt a new challenge-or-two to make 2026 an even better year. Our Country, our Town were built because of someone’s dreams. Why not use our own imagination and contribute some new ideas?

It is a Season that long, long ago changed the entire World as the Christ child was born in Bethlehem. That the Son of God left the World on a cross did not cause His love to leave, but is still found many places on this Planet.

As for all the new scenery we see around us, let us move into the New Year with some new ideas and actions. Let’s continue on in a reasonable manner and make 2026 a year of progress where growth, stability and common sense can prevail. We owe this to our area. And, especially to future generations.

Look at how we have changed the appearance of our town. This success can be had with a variety of projects. “Get on with it” and “Good Luck.” Things do begin to happen with one determined person.

Starting at $3.92/week.
