Timeless Traditions

‘Serving with a Smile’ was offered at Beverly Presbyterian Church’s annual Holiday Luncheon.

As the Christmas season unfolds, no one can deny that anticipation fills the frigid air.

It matters not what community one hails from, the traditional events attract people and assemble them together almost like a family where past experiences and current events have a connecting cord tying them together not unlike the ribbon and wrappings under decorated trees.

New patterns emerge and our residents begin to move toward places where they know special friends and neighbors will assemble.

Instead of having to share the bad news they have seen on their televisions, they can relate items brought to their attention in Sunday church services in preparation for Dec. 25th, the birth of their Lord.

Every community’s bond of togetherness represent necessary elements of our celebratory attitudes.

Holiday events are a great time to reconnect and enjoy the company of old friends.

Why not lift high the birthday of Christ and wave colorful lights and ringing bells in remembrance of a Holy and historical figure many know to be Savior of the World? After all, it’s Christmas.

Were it not for this child’s love being shared in the world, would we really have survived this long?

The specialness of this celebration is so great that 400-trained choir members will present their annual musical performance on WNPB-TV (West Virginia Public Broadcasting) Monday, Dec. 15 at 8 p.m. as The Mormon Tabernacle Choir pays their annual tribute to God and His blessings for us all. Their program will be repeated on Christmas Eve, again, at 8 p.m.

The many photos assembled for this month represent some of Central West Virginia’s contributions to the Spirit of this Season. Participate as time will allow and demonstrate to little ones the kindness Christmas encourages.

Praise to those who never cease keeping Christmas in their hearts and minds. For this causes hope and help for those who wish someone would care.

Mary’s Greenhouse in Elkins has offered 3,000 plants for sale during the Christmas holiday season.
