John and Lois Clingerman
John Clingerman and Lois Stewart exchanged wedding vows Saturday, March 7, 1959. This past March, they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with their children and spouses in the Elvis city of Memphis, Tennessee.
As the story goes, their honeymoon was spent in Monterey, Virginia. The power company gave him Monday off with understanding that he would be in Franklin for work Tuesday. And so began their marriage …
They are the parents of Steve Clingerman and wife, Kathy, of Morgantown; Kim Urban and husband, Ryan, of Elkins; and Sherri King and husband, Danny, of Longview, Texas. They also have 10 grandchildren, Jessica Goude, Ashley Godwin, Jennifer Kisamore, Jon Clingerman, Paige, Harman, Brandon Nicholas, Jared King, Emily Mardian, Ann George and Sam Urban and eight great-grandchildren, Sydney Goude, Zoe Goude, Judah Goude, Lyric Goude, Kaylee Godwin, Grayson Godwin, Willow Kisamore and Aubrey Kisamore.
The Clingerman family enjoyed four days in Memphis, Tennessee crammed into an eight-passenger van driving around Memphis, visiting Graceland, touring the city on a bus and tour through Sun Studios, standing where Elvis and other great artists have stood and ate some of the best barbecue out there.
This quote from Sherri King reflects the family’s feelings: “Amazing examples of love and commitment that we’ve been able to experience and apply in our marriage and family. Passing down an inheritance of love to us and our children and so on and so on … You are loved beyond measure.”
