Slayton and McIntosh

Lisa Jean Slayton and Stacie June McIntosh celebrated over 25 years of love, adventure, and community service together on their wedding anniversary on Aug. 12.

They were first united in a traditional methodist ceremony on the banks of the North Fork of the Chena River, Alaska on Aug. 12, 2000. Later in June of 2010, after marriage equality became law, they reconfirmed their vows before a magistrate at City Hall in Washington, D.C.

Lisa is the daughter of the late Charles H. Slayton Jr. and Betty (Ray) Slayton of Mabie. Charles and Betty Slayton owned and operated Slayton’s Garage and Slayton’s Store in Mabie for over 45 years. Stacie grew up in Sterling Heights, Michigan, and is the daughter of the late Robert C. McIntosh, and of Yvonne (Olsen) McIntosh of Alaska.

Stacie and Lisa share one niece, Alexis Mejia of North Carolina; two nephews, Chris Moss of West Virginia, and Xavier McIntosh of Ohio; and four godchildren, Sapphire, Sophia, Sylus, and Evelyn of Alaska.

Lisa, a 1980 graduate from Coalton High School, is a former teacher in West Virginia and Alaska, and a retired anthropologist from Alaska Department of Fish and Game. Stacie is the Deputy Assistant Director for Resources and Planning for the Bureau of Land Management in Washington, D.C. They currently divide their time between their homes in Fairbanks, Alaska and Accokeek, Maryland.
