Mildred Lucille Guthrie Shaffer Mullikin
Mildred Lucille Guthrie Shaffer Mullikin will celebrate her 90th birthday.
She was born March 13, to John and Abby Moss Guthrie.
She was first married to Edward L. “Bud” Shaffer, March 13, 1947, with whom she had her children, and second to Jerry F. Mullikin, May 1, 2000.
Helping her husband to celebrate are her children Edward L. “Buddy” (Shelia) of Swamp Run; Kenneth J. (Clarcie) of Ellamore; George W. “Billy” (Carol) of Gassoway; John R. “Rick” (Joey) of Quiet Dell; Sharon K. Burr (Dave) of Buckhannon and stepchildren Donna Ethier (Omer) of Lake Havasu City, Arizona; Cheryl Coleman of St. Petersburg, Florida; Shelia Gilliam of Valley Grande, Alabama; and Jerry Mullikin of Buckhannon.
She is the proud grandmother of 12 grandchildren, nine stepgrandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Two of her older and one younger sister who she speaks with daily wish her a wonderful day, along with several nieces, nephews, and friends.
She is proud to have served as a Christian all her life. An avid gardener of vegetables and flowers, Mildred worked at GC Murphey’s, Upshur County Board of Education, and she retired from Corhart.
The family will host an open house from 2 – 4 p.m. March 14 at Sand Run Baptist Church, where she has served for 81 years.
