Agnes (Hunt) Winans was born at home on March 13, 1933, in Meriden, close to Philippi.
Leaving her family home in the 1950s to work in Hagerstown, Maryland, with a friend, Jane Carrico, at W.H. Reisners Manufacturing Company, making plot boards for the Navy.
Soon after she married Junior Carl Winans and moved to Dundalk, Maryland. They raised two children, Gary Lynn Winans and Ann Marie (Winans) Baldwin.
The couple moved back to West Virginia in 2019 to live close to their daughter in Barbour County.
A party in her honor was held March 11 at The Rental Room in Philippi. Many friends and family attended. Country music was provided by John Daugherty and Mark O'Donnell.
Photographs were taken of everyone in attendance and a guest book was filled with well wishes.
