Helen White a resident of ERCC and a former resident of Jimtown, having lived with her daughter, Karen Vance, will celebrate her 90th birthday on Oct. 7.
She was born on Oct. 7 1933, at Montrose, the daughter of the late Dexter M. 'Dick' Champ and Daisy Maude Champ of Bemis.
She has three daughters, Karen Vance of Jimtown, Dee Letvin of Harthup Village, Michigan, and Sharen Brake of Charleston. She has five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Helen was a cook by trade. She worked as a cook at the Lamplight Restaurant, Third Ward School, Memorial General Hospital and retired from Davis Memorial Hospital.
She could never cook for just one, but could put out a meal for 100. She would bake banana nut bread weekly and send it to her son-in-law and two grandchildren stationed with Desert Storm.
She enjoyed animals the most. She always had a cat. Her cat named Parker lives with her daughter, Karen, and has visited her in ERCC. Birthday cards are welcomed. Send to Helen White ERCC, 1175 Beverly Pike Room 256.
