He was born April 25, 1935, in Whitmer, where he and his wife, Rachel, continue to reside. He is the son of the late Harrison and Floda Mallow Reed.
Robert is the last surviving member of his immediate family, having lost 11 siblings. He is currently the oldest man in his hometown of Whitmer.
Robert is a veteran, having been in the U.S. Army, during which time he served overseas in Germany.
He is retired from R.H. Armstrong Paving, where he operated a roller for many years.
He is a very skilled carpenter and has been an avid hunter and fisherman.
His most enjoyable moments have been spent outside in all of God’s creation, birdwatching and raising a garden. He notes that some of the best times have been “up Gandy with his family, roasting hotdogs and making s’mores around the campfire.”
He has two daughters: Robin Coberly and husband Donald, and Roxanna Cooper and husband Terry. Four grandchildren: Shasta Burris, Moriah Warner, Robert Wolford and MaKenzie Cooper. Nine great-grandchildren: Bailey, Connor, Victor, Heather, Cooper, Silas, Kaitlin, Jace and Isaac.
