Rachel Reed of Whitmer will celebrate her 85th birthday on Nov. 11.
She was born in Elkins on Nov. 11, 1941 to the late Ernest and Evelyn (White) Kirkpatrick. At a young age, she, with her parents and four siblings, moved to Baltimore, Md.
In 1959, Reed graduated from Patterson Park High School in Baltimore. She and her husband, Robert, have two daughters: Robin Coberly (Donnie) and Roxanna Cooper (Terry). She has four grandchildren, Shasta, Robert, Moriah and McKenzie, and nine great-grandchildren, Bailey, Connor, Victor, Heather, Isaac, Jace, Kaitlin, Cooper and Silas.
Prior to retiring, she worked in clerical, secretarial and medical records positions in the medical field. She now enjoys watching the Gaither Reunion productions on TV, keeping up with the national news, watching Hallmark Christmas movies, spending time on her front porch, tending to her flowers, and family gatherings, especially those that include the grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
