Building a Vibrant Community — community investment, TipTop
ELKINS — In this series of articles about Community Investment, Cade and Catie Archuleta, owners of TipTop Coffee Co., answer the question, “Why did you invest in Elkins and why do you continue to invest?”
If there’s one common happy-spot for people around the world, it’s definitely the taste of a warm cup of coffee! TipTop and the Common Door complement each other so well, and we couldn’t be more thankful for the opportunity to operate at 125 3rd Street. It’s the perfect spot to feature our state of the art equipment to make Elkins stand out within our region and nation.
We’ve always been passionate about coffee, and after moving to Tucker County in 2007, we began working as a Barista for Hypno Coffee in Davis. Before we knew it, my wife and I had the opportunity to take over Hypno ourselves, which eventually led to the inspiration to create TipTop Coffee Company. By 2010, we had opened our doors in the small tourist town of Davis, West Virginia and by April 2012, TipTop had moved one town over to Thomas, West Virginia and business began to boom.
We realized how much time we were spending in Elkins for supply runs and loved everything about the area. We saw that what Elkins needed was a new and hip coffee shop. By winter of 2019, TipTop had officially opened its doors in downtown Elkins and the community support since then has been truly staggering. It’s all about finding the right place, the right people and the right products. When the opportunity came to integrate with Common Door, we took it. We think it’s a service unlike anything Elkins has seen before and we like providing people a creative and relaxed atmosphere to work. It’s a facet of our business that continues to invest and give back to the community in a positive way.
TipTop couldn’t have opened in Elkins without the support of the community! The people are what are making this business prosper, truly! Community funding assistance from Woodlands Community Lenders and Citizens Bank has made all the difference in allowing TipTop to come into fruition. Our staff are the ones on the front lines making it happen every day and they take the extra precautions to truly keep us and our community safe during these times. We are very grateful for their willingness and we couldn’t keep our doors open without such a good workforce! At the end of the day, this is our livelihood, and it must work, but we really think this work is fun and fulfilling! We have some new and exciting business collaborations that are in the works for the next couple years that I really think the community is going to love. It’s always been about the people, always.
TipTop is a perfect example of continuing to invest in the community of Elkins to ensure a vibrant future. What impact investment will you make?
