Hello from Barbour County! Fall is in the air.   I really enjoy the cool, crisp weather.

Prayers go out to all those in North Carolina, Florida and all of those people affected by the hurricanes. 

Belington City Park is the new home to some pickleball courts.

They are a great addition to the beautiful park and I hope that many people will be able to enjoy them. 

Early voting in Barbour County will be taking place at the Barbour County courthouse from Oct. 23 – Nov. 2. Let your voice be heard. 

Mt. Liberty Fall Festival will once again be held on Oct. 19. 

Come out for the day and enjoy music, homemade apple butter, kids activities, a cake walk, vendors and more. 

There will be a Community Baby Shower on Oct. 24 at 5:30 p.m at  Junior Town Hall.

This event is sponsored by Barbour County Family Support Center. 

Flannel Fest will be held in Philippi on Oct. 26. There will be a beard contest, a pumpkin toss, pumpkin carving contest, a bonfire and more.  Come out and join in the fun.

On Oct.27, Mikey Hart Scholarship Designer Purse Bingo will be held at Junior Fire Department.  Doors open at noon.   

Spooky season is coming up soon, and with that comes all sorts of costumes, trick and treats. 

On Oct. 29, the annual Barnyard Trick or Treat event at Barbour County Fairgrounds will be held from 5:30 – 7 p.m.

Every year, this seems to grow and it will be interesting to see how many come out for the festivities this year. 

There will be a Trunk or Treat event in the parking lot of the Junior Fire Dept. on Oct 31 during Junior’s regular trick or treating hours. 

The time for Belington will be 6-7:30 p.m. on Halloween night.

In Philippi, the Trick or Treat time will be from 5:30 – 7 p.m. 

Looking ahead, the annual Turkey Trot 5k with Barbour County Health Association will be held on Nov. 2.  

Just a reminder that October is National Breast Cancer awareness month.
