Springtime in Barbour

Hello from Barbour County. Spring is in the air. The first day of spring is March 20. Winter never lasts forever.

Don’t forget to “spring ahead” this weekend. Daylight Savings Time will be March 9 at 2 a.m. This is also a good time to change the batteries in your smoke detectors. They save lives.

There will be a Winter Fair at Battler’s Knob on March 14 from 11 a.m.-8 p.m. and March 15 from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. There will be great food, entertainment, crafts and more. Come on out for a fun time.

There will be a Buckwheat Feed on March 15 at Asbury UM Church fom 8 a.m.-noon. There would be a cost for adults and a lesser cost for children (12 and under).

A Spring Dance is scheduled for March 22 from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. at Heiner Hall, Battler’s Knob. This will be for elementary and middle school students in homeschool or public. There will be one cost for individuals and another per couple. Refreshments will be available for purchase and chaparones will be on duty.

The first annual Donkey Basketball game at Belington Middle School has been rescheduled for March 27. Tickets will be available at the door. This looks to be a fun time for all. Consessions will be available and there will be free donkey rides for the kids at half time. Doors will open at 6 p.m.

Looking ahead, the annual Mt. Liberty Ramp Dinner will be held on April 26. Look for more details as they follow.

Also, there will be a Flea Market at Battler’s Knob on May 17. Keep this in mind when you start spring cleaning. One man’s trash can be another man’s treasure.
