Angelea Roberta Kay Bernadette Ruby Goodwin and Matthew James Maynard
Linda and John R. Goodwin Jr., formerly of Parkersburg, West Virginia, are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Angelea Roberta Kay Bernadette Ruby Goodwin, to Matthew James Maynard, son of Ralphene and James “Ken” Maynard, of Elkins, West Virginia.
Angelea is a 2019 graduate of Davis & Elkins College in Elkins, WV, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education with a minor in Health and Education. The prospective bride and her family previously resided in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, and Angelea was a 2015 graduate of Littlestown High School in Littlestown, Pennsylvania. She was a varsity athlete who lettered in high school soccer and tennis.
Angelea is known for her athleticism, community service, and faith. Born in Parkersburg, West Virginia, she excelled in dance at Schrader Youth Ballet, has served as a youth soccer coach in West Virginia and Pennsylvania, and has remained a devout Catholic, most recently as a member of St. Brendan’s Catholic Church Rosary Society, in Elkins, West Virginia.
Her fiance, Matt, is an accomplished former athlete as well, with extensive academic achievements. He is a 2013 graduate of West Virginia Wesleyan College with a Bachelor’s of Science in Molecular Biology, is a 2016 graduate of Alderson Broaddus University’s Masters of Physician Assistant Studies, and he is completing a Doctor of Medical Science Degree.
Born in Reston, Virginia, Matt grew up in Elkins, West Virginia, where he went on to play varsity football and basketball at Elkins High School, until he graduated in 2009. During his collegiate years, Matt was a member of Theta Chi Fraternity and active in theater at Wesleyan. He is a member of Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church.
Angelea is the granddaughter of the late Virginia and Bernard Wytko and Betty and the late John R. Goodwin, all originally of Morgantown, West Virginia. Matt is the grandson of Alice and the late Hetzel “Ralph” Holbert, of Elkins and Philippi, West Virginia, respectively, and Fay and the late Gerald Jackson Maynard, of Elkins and Logan, West Virginia, respectively.
The couple now resides in Swansboro, North Carolina, where Matt is a PA at Johnston Pain Management. Angelea is a licensed lead teacher in North Carolina, working in the field of preschool education and childcare. After a 2020 ceremony postponement due to the COVID pandemic, the couple plans an Aug. 7, 2021, wedding at Neuse Breeze in Havelock, North Carolina, with a honeymoon in Honolulu, Hawaii, immediately to follow.
