The Elkins High class of 1968 celebrated its 55th class reunion on Aug. 4, 5 and 6.

The weekend began with classmates and guests participating in a get-together with appetizers followed by dinner and a show by Elvis tribute artist Robert Keefer at the Gandy Dancer Theater. The following day a picnic was held at the Elkins City Park catered by the Steer Steakhouse. The picnic opened with a memorial tribute to class members who passed away during the last five years with a ceremony called the “empty chair” adapted from a Naval tradition. “The Empty Chair” poem was read by Christina Butch Sanders and a roll call of 12 deceased members was read by Sanders and Tom Rosier.

On the final day of the reunion, an early breakfast was held before classmates went on their individual journeys. Future plans include a group 73rd birthday party and a 60th reunion.

Starting at $3.92/week.
