The annual Haymond Reunion was held Sunday, Sept. 6 at the Arlington Community Building in Arlington, W.Va.
Numbers were low but many enjoyed the event, organizers said, adding that food was plentiful and delicious as usual.
Gifts were presented to the following direct Haymond descendants: Tom Watson as oldest at 89 years; youngest was Joel Smith at 19 years; longest married were again Jack and Sue Davidson with 61 years together; newlyweds were also a repeat with Guy and Donis Ware with just one and a half years together; furthest traveled was Avis Franklin from Clarksburg; and the Eubank family, with three members present, was the largest family in attendance.
Direct descendants over 70 years old were: Tom Walton, 89; Donis Ware, 87; Jack Davidson, 85; Joann Samples, 78; Bert Eubank, 75; Sandy Shingleton, 72; and "youngsters" Avis Franklin, 71.
Next year’s reunion is set for Sunday, Sept. 5, 2027. Hopefully more families will try to attend and renew acquaintances, officials said.
