ERCC employee receives national certification
ELKINS — An Elkins Rehabilitation & Care Center employee has received a national certification in her quest to provide the best possible service to residents at the facility. ERCC’s Family Nurse Practitioner Rebecca Hitt recently received her wound care certification from the National Alliance of Wound Care and Ostonomy. The National Alliance of Wound Care and Ostonomy is a non-profit agency that has been certifying wound care professionals for 15 years.
“We encourage our staff to continue their education in ways that will benefit our residents and ensure that we continue to provide them with the best care possible,” said Tara Shaver, ERCC administrator.
The certification process assures maximum competency in wound and skin care management, she added. “Rebecca has demonstrated proficiency and mastery of essential knowledge in wound care,” Shaver noted.
“I’m really pleased that ERCC allowed me to work to get this certification,” Hitt said. “It demonstrates that we are committed to providing excellent care here at ERCC.”
Hitt has been a family nurse practitioner at ERCC since 2018 and works closely with ERCC’s Medical Director, Samuel K. Roberts, M.D.
The National Alliance of Wound Care and Ostonomy is recognized by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, Shaver said.
“We accept VA patients here at ERCC, and we want the families of our residents who sacrificed so much for our country to know that we take their care seriously and that our staff are up to date on all techniques and procedures,” Shaver added.
