ELKINS — Elkins council committees return to in-person meetings for both officials and the public this week, with no virtual option. The regular council meeting of Sept. 17 is postponed to Sept. 24 to allow time for the installation of plexiglass safety barriers. The Sept. 24 council meeting will also be in-person.
On Monday at 10 a.m., council’s Public Safety Committee will consider issues related to the property at 123 Vector Avenue, in addition to hearing reports from the city’s public safety officials. The 1 p.m. meeting of council’s Personnel Committee will continue discussion of contracting for human resources services.
Council’s Finance Committee meets on Tuesday at 3 p.m. Agenda items include creation of a new budget line for the city’s flood control works and planning for the replacement of tablets issued to city officials.
At 9 a.m. on Wednesday, council’s Municipal Properties Committee will discuss the Elkins Main Street Streetscape plan, the FY21 downtown flowers contract, and sidewalks.
Sept. 17 is the due date for out-of-city fire-protection service fees, which are billed quarterly. (In-city fire fees are billed monthly on utility bills; September’s utility-bill due date is the 21st.)
