St. Joseph’s Hospital offering COVID-19 Antibody Infusion Center

BUCKHANNON — St. Joseph’s Hospital has opened a Monoclonal Anti-Body Infusion Center that can provide relief to some patients with COVID-19.

The drug Bamlanivimab, is a neutralizing antibody drug that can help to limit the amount of COVID-19 virus in your body. These antibodies help your immune system fight off the COVID-19 virus. The drug is administered through an intravenous (IV) infusion, meaning the drug goes directly into your bloodstream. The treatment takes about three hours and is only needed once. Patients who have had the infusion report much quicker recovery times with significant improvement in their symptoms. The clinic is staffed seven days a week.

If you have recently been diagnosed with COVID-19, contact your provider to see if you are eligible for this treatment. This treatment can help speed your recovery and keep you from needing to be admitted to the hospital.

St. Joseph’s Hospital has administered over 35 infusions for COVID-19 over the past few weeks.
