ERCC employees receive hero pay
ELKINS — Elkins Rehabilitation & Care Center continues to show how much their employees are appreciated by providing another bonus to their staff members.
The Board of Directors at ERCC approved Hero Pay bonuses for all staff, said Tara Shaver, administrator. The most recent bonuses ranged from $1,200 to $2,400, depending on what duties the employees undertook during the pandemic.
Previous bonuses ranged from $100 to $125.
“Our staff has really done an excellent job of protecting our residents and limiting the spread of COVID-19 in the facility,” expressed Shaver. “They have been wonderful to work with through this entire ordeal and we are extraordinarily proud and appreciative.”
While the facility has worked hard to protect residents, there have been instances of COVID in the facility. However, a plan was established early on in the pandemic and these situations were quickly addressed which extremely limited the spread.
A dedicated wing was established for residents that tested positive for COVID-19. Employees at ERCC responded by taking on additional risk and tasks with appropriate safety measures to help care for these residents while continuing to carry out their regular duties, Shaver added. The employees also underwent and continue to be routinely screened for the deadly virus themselves.
They also planned and implemented activities to keep the residents active and engaged during the time when in-person visitation was not permitted. Controlled, in-person visitation has since resumed by appointment.
Shaver went on to say that ERCC’s employees will show that they will not rest on their laurels and will continue to step up to address issues brought on by the pandemic or other emergency situation.
“We’re going to keep doing what we do best,” Shaver said. “Provide complete compassionate care.”
