HOLIDAY PET ADOPTION EVENT: The Randolph County Humane Society will host a holiday pet adoption event today and Sunday from noon to 3 p.m. Animals will be available for adoption. The Humane Society is also in need of dog and cat food as well as cat and dog toys, blankets and towels. Fore more information or to make a donation call 304-636-7844.
CHILDREN’S CHRISTMAS PARTY: The American Legion Post 29 Auxiliary will be hosting a Children’s Christmas Party today from 1- 4 p.m. for children ages 11 years and under. There will be snacks, crafts and, of course, Santa.
TEXTILE ARTS: On Sunday, from 1 to 3 p.m., The Arts Center will host an opening reception for an exhibit of textile arts by the Log Cabin Quilters Guild and the Mountain Weavers Guild. The exhibit will include quilts, hangings, 3-D felted works, and woven pieces of fabric art. This opening reception is free and open to the public.
COMMUNITY CHRISTMAS CANTATA: The Asbury Untied Methodist Church will host a community Christmas Cantata 7 p.m. Sunday at 134 S. Beverly Pike in Belington. A candlelight service will conclude the evening and refreshments will follow in the fellowship hall.
ELKINS CHURCH OF THE BRETHREN: will be closed Sunday. The church will reopen on Sunday, Dec. 19 at 11 a.m.
MONDAY MANNA SUPPERS: will be offered by First United Methodist Church from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday and Dec. 20 at 315 Kerens Ave. in Elkins. Meals will be served inside. Please enter through the front door.
AIRPORT AUTHORITY: The Elkins-Randolph County Regional Airport Authority will hold its regular monthly meeting 5 p.m. Tuesday at the airport terminal building.
HOMESTEAD ASSOCIATION: The Tygart Valley Homestead Association will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Homestead Community and Event Center in Dailey. All are welcome, and community residents are encouraged to attend. For more information, contact Tom Rennix at 304-940-1855.
RANDOLPH COUNTY FARM BUREAU: will hold a Christmas dinner at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Camp Pioneer. The camp will provide meat and drinks. Please bring a covered dish. There will be a demonstration of the West Virginia Farm Bureau Quiz Book. Everyone is welcome. For more information, call 304-338-6010.
BROWN BAG CONCERT: The Arts Center will host a Brown Bag Concert noon Wednesday. Singer and pianist Raymond Godwin will perform and his show will feature many of your favorite Christmas songs, and quite possibly an appearance by Santa Claus himself. This event is free and open to the public.
KUMP HOUSE HOLIDAY FAMILY CELEBRATION: will be Dec. 17, 18 and19 from 2-5 p.m. each day. The event will feature tours of the historic home decorated by the Emma Scott Garden club with nativities and Christmas traditions from around the world, children’s craft activities and refreshments. Admission is free, but donations are welcome. The Kump House is located on Randolph Ave., across from Kroger.
BUCKWHEAT AND PANCAKE BREAKFAST: Randolph County IOOF will host a sourdough buckwheat breakfast at the lodge hall on the Beverly Five-lane on Saturday, Dec. 18 from 7 a.m. until noon. The menu will include sourdough buckwheat cakes, regular pancakes, bisquits and gravy, coffee, milk or orange juice. Eggs will be available. Take-outs are welcom.
CHRISTMAS PROGRAM: The Harman Presbyterian Church will host their Christmas program on Dec. 22 at 6 p.m. Special guests will be Steve and Kati Smith, who are Christian singers, along with a visit from Santa. Everyone is invited to attend.
OUR TOWN INC.: is in need of artificial pine trees to be used for the 2022 decorating project. The trees need to be green and not pre-lit. The donated trees can be placed on the front porch of the Delmote on either side of the front door. Please make sure when dropping off the trees they don’t block the entrance. AL-ANON: Meets at the Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church every Wednesday from 7-8 p.m.
SUPPORT GROUP: The Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance (DBSA) of West Virginia is hosting a support group for veterans with depression and bipolar disorder on the first and third Wednesday of each month at the Elkins VFW from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. For more information contact John Riley at 304-376-3213 or email at siuwvuman@aol.com.
