ELKINS -- This summer, Anna Thompson from Elkins, will join outstanding elementary school students from across the state to take part in a unique academic development experience, the National Youth Leadership Forum: Pathways to STEM, taking place this summer in Washington, D.C.
"Pathways to STEM" is one of the Envision by WorldStrides family of programs that enable students to explore their interests and experience learning beyond the classroom.
Anna was nominated to attend the forum by her fourth-grade teacher at Third Ward Elementary School. Anna is a fourth-grade student council representative and a member of 4-H.
Anna hopes to become a teacher or a veterinarian. In her spare time, she enjoys baking, crafting and spending time with her dog, Charlie.
Anna is the daughter of Bryan and Anita Thompson of Elkins. She is the granddaughter of Jearl and Jane Cutright of Norton and Mark and Denise Sherman of Parsons.
"As an alumna of Envision myself, I am excited for Anna to meet, work and collaborate with fellow high-aspiring students from other cities and schools," said Amanda Freitag Thomas of Envision.
"At NYLF Pathways to STEM, students build the confidence and skills needed to excel in the classroom while gaining exposure to STEM fields and concepts," Thomas said.
