STRAWBERRY SALE: The Elkins Area Band Auxiliary Annual Strawberry Sale is going through Friday. Order from any Elkins High or Elkins Middle School Band student or call 304-636-2721. Pick-up will be May 19 at Elkins Fire Department from 9 a.m.-5:30 p.m.
COMMUNITY BABY PANTRY: A Community Baby Pantry will be at the Phil Gainer Community Center Friday from 10 a.m. – noon, and 2 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. The community baby pantry is open to all Randolph County families with children under the age of five years old. All children are welcome to diapers, wipes, formula, hygiene products, and more. All items are free of charge.
PICKENS RAMP SUPPER: The annual Pickens Ramp Supper will be 1-6 p.m. Saturday the American Legion Hall in Pickens. The menu includes ramps - fried and raw, ham, fried potatoes, brown beans, coleslaw, cornbread, applesauce, dessert and drinks. Sponsored by American Legion Pickens Post 122.
HOT DOG SALE: will be from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday at Whitmer Methodist Church. Proceeds will benefit the church youth.
WALKATHON: The Hearts for the Humane Society Club at Elkins High School will host a walkathon to benefit the Randolph County Humane Society on Saturday. The group will meet at 9:30 a.m. at Elkins City Park. The walk will begin at 10 a.m. at the Allegheny Rail Trail.
COMMUNITY DINNER: Calvary Assembly of God is having the final free community dinner Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Outreach Center on 219 in Valley Head. Come for good food and fellowship
YOUTH GOLF: Sign up for John Ballantyne Youth Golf will held on Saturday, from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Elks Lodge lower level. The program is open to golfers of all ability levels aged 6-18. Golfers need to bring a parent or guardian and health insurance information.
BLOOD SCREENING: The Elkins Kiwanis Club will be holding their Health Awareness Blood Screening Saturday and April 22 at the Randolph County Senior Center from 7-10 a.m. There is a charge for the basic multiphasic blood test. Other tests are available for an additional cost. This is an excellent opportunity to check for high cholesterol and diabetes among other health issues. FUNDRAISER: There will be a sportsman bingo to raise funds for the Valley Head Fire Department 6 p.m. Saturday. There will be guns, other prizes and a 50/50 drawing.
RABIES CLINICS: Randolph County 4-H Rabies Clinics for small animals will be held at five sites around Randolph County. On Saturday, clinics will be located at 4-H Camp Pioneer Assembly Hall in Beverly 9-11 a.m. and Leading Creek Fire Dept 1-3 p.m. On Saturday, April 22, clinics will be held at the Dry Fork Recreational Center 9-11 a.m., Mill Creek Fire Station 10 a.m. – noon and Elkins Southern States 1-3 p.m. There is a charge for vaccines.. BUCKWHEAT AND PANCAKE BREAKFAST: The Randolph Lodge IOOF will host a sourdough buckwheat breakfast at the lodge hall along the Beverly Five-lane on Saturday, from 7 a.m. to noon. The menu will include sourdough buckwheat cakes, regular pancakes, biscuits and gravy, sausage, eggs, milk, coffee or orange juice. Take-out will also be available.
WRITERS WORKSHOP: Writers Workshop invites you to celebrate our 30th anniversary and Poetry Month Wednesday, April 19th, at the Arts Center in Elkins. Doors Open at 6 p.m., and the evening is free. West VIrginia writers Cheryl Denise, William Calhoun, Carol Del Col, and C. Catherine Moore will read their works and honor authors Barbara Smith and Jeffrey Del Col. EARTH DAY CELEBRATION: GFWC Woman's Club of Elkins is sponsoring an Earth Day celebration, Saturday, April 22, from noon until 2 p.m. at the Elkins City Park (large pavilion). There will be kid's crafts, displays, games, recognition of the poster and photo contest winners, and giveaways. Participating groups include the Elkins Tree Board, Master Gardeners, WV Master Naturalist program, Interact Children's Museum, Our Town, and others. HOMESTEAD CRAFT SHOW & INDOOR/OUTDOOR YARD SALE: will be April 22 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Homestead Community and Event Center in Dailey. CEMETERY MEETING: Greenwood Cemetery meeting will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 23, at the Presbyterian Church in East Dailey. All relatives of those interred in the cemetery are asked to attend.
MOBILE FOOD PANTRY: Mountaineer Food Bank Mobile Food Pantry will be at Camp Pioneer 11 a.m.-1 p.m. April 25. Items include a protein, vegetable, fruit, carb, dairy, and more. All items are free of charge.
RANDOLPH COUNTY ASSOCIATION OF RETIRED SCHOOL PERSONNEL: will meet Friday, April 28, at 12:30 p.m. at the Steer Steakhouse. An AARP representative will present information about any recent legislation that affects Senior Citizens from the recent WV Legislative Session. An auction will be held to support our Scholarship program. All West Virginia retired school employees are invited to attend.
RAMP BURGER DINNER: The American Legion Post 29 will be hosting a ramp burger dinner on Saturday, April 29, from 10:30 a.m. until sold out. Meal consists of ramp burger, french fries, baked beans, cookie and bottled water. Dine-in or carry out.
CLASSIC CAR CRUISE IN: The PBHS girls basketball team is hosting their second annual classic car cruise on April 30 starting at 10 a.m. There will be door prizes, 50/50 and food.
BASEMENT SALE: The United Women in Faith will host a basement sale at the First United Methodist Church, 52 S. Florida St., Buckhannon 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. May 2. Gently used items including clothing, housewares and other miscellaneous items for sale.
BLOCK PARTY: There will be a block party May 6 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m, on 2nd Street and Henry Ave. in Elkins. There will be bounce houses, yard games, free food, special music by Nashville recording artist Anthony Mossburg and more.
